Each project is a new learning experience.

Tonight I completed my latest commissioned piece, a simple aged bird necklace. Or so I thought it would be simple. I started creating jewelry about a year and a half ago and it has been an interesting journey thus far. I've been amazed at how quickly I've picked up new techniques and have been incredibly frustrated when encountering road blocks over a technique that upon first glance seems exceptionally easy.

With this piece I have learned that plastic is brittle if not drilled through a thick piece. Even using something as small as a needle to drill through will break plastic if the piece is not thick enough. I've learned that primer and sealer are important. I've learned that the projects I think will be simple take the longest, and sometimes the more complex ideas flow together much quicker.

Let's see what tomorrow will bring!
